Dr. Esther Beth Sullivan, Director of Distance Education and RANA sullivan@alaskapacific.edu, 907.564.8355
"I can't imagine anything more rewarding than working with fellow Alaskans as they realize their educational goals. We can grow our own professionals in AK!"
I go by "Beth." With the RANA Program, our university commits itself to excellent online education that can serve working adults anywhere in Alaska. I come from a family of teachers, and have taught at almost all levels of education, from my student teaching in first grade, to seventh grade language arts, and many years as a college professor in the arts. It's great to be working with RANA students, who are so dedicated to the well-being of their families and communities.
Annette Zella, Associate Director of RANA ajzella@alaskapacific.edu, 907.564.8213
"Meeting prospective students, and helping them pursue their goals in education, is very rewarding. I also love traveling to different locations throughout the state; it surely is an adventure!"
I am an Inupiaq, born and raised in Kotzebue. This program is very rewarding for me because I see our students grow and learn so much as they continue their studies. One of our goals is to provide student support services for a smooth transition into the program, whether a student is taking courses for the first time or with many transfer credits. We also assist students from inquiry to graduation. The nice part of this program is that it is like a small extended family.
Rebecca Prieto, RANA Admissions Counselor rprieto@alaskapacific.edu, 907.564.8222
"Our elders tell us to pass on traditions by subsisting, storytelling and serving as examples of our cultural values. RANA accommodates those in rural Alaska preserving their traditional knowledge while achieving a university education. Every student I talk to is an inspiration."
Camai! I'm the new Admissions Counselor for RANA. I am Inupiaq and Cuban. I was raised in Anchorage; however, my mother is originally from Unalakleet on the Norton Sound. I have been fortunate to have visited many rural communities, from celebrating my son at a whaling feast in Pt. Hope to picking gigantic salmon berries in Yakutat. I am a student in APU' Master's of Science in Counseling and Psychology. I have a passion for connecting with students from all over Alaska, and sharing experiences.
Prof. Scott Kiefer, CMS Administrator and Instructional Designer skiefer@alaskapacific.edu, 907.564.8611
"Greetings everyone. I'm the new Moodle guy and instructional designer at APU."
I know the challenges you face and can help you to meet them, so you can receive the rewards that will follow the successful completion of your studies. I'll be teaching basic computer courses and, for education students, how to incorporate technology into your teaching. When I'm not working at APU, you'll probably find me either playing music, hiking with my wife and our dog, or traveling through Alaska and the world at large.
