It's important to plan ahead for college expenses.
Tuition for RANA students is calculated per credit hour. For 2008-09, the RANA tuition rate is $360 per credit hour.
Depending on the content of a particular course, there may also be a course-specific fee (estimated from $30 to $50). And, every course will require that you purchase text books or other course materials (ranging from $25 to $300).
Per semester - assuming you have a full-time load (12 credits) - we recommend you budget for the following:
- Tuition $4,320 (12 credits @ $360 per credit)
- Books and Supplies $500 (approximate)
- Residency Expenses $1,500 (approximate airfare and accommodation)
TOTAL: $6,320 per semester
As well, when you enter the program, it may be necessary to purchase a computer if you don't already have one (or if you don't have a computer that's less than 2 years old). Your financial aid package can incorporate this expense, catagorized as "computer allowance," for up to $1,500.
How can you plan to pay for these expenses?
Planning for your college expenses can be complicated, but we will help in whatever way we can.
Anyone can apply for financial aid. But to begin that process, you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. With your FAFSA application, you will be calculating how much (and what kind) financial aid you are eligible to receive.
The amount of financial aid for which you are eligible is based upon your total educational costs and your expected family contribution.
All of the direct costs mentioned above (including tuition, fees, cost of books, and travel for residencies), as well as the cost of purchasing a computer, will be used to calculate your eligibility for financial aid.
Beyond Federal and State sources, we work with you to identify other scholarship opportunities. Often a student can receive scholarships from his/her workplace and Native corporation. As well, there are an array of other sources that offer scholarships if you take the time to apply.
