Frequently Asked Questions about the CTE Degree:

What's the advantage of the partnership between Av and APU?

     •   Students get the very best technical and vocational expertise from AVTEC.

BA from APU or any other accredited university.
     •   A majority of the coursework can be done online from anywhere in Alaska.
     •   For a limited time, scholarships are available to help offset the cost of tuition.
Scholarships can cover up to 60% of tuition for CTE students.

Who can I contact for more information about the program and scholarships?

     •   The General University Requirements (GURs) are delivered from APU
through the RANA Distance Education Program.

When do courses meet?

     •   AVTEC courses "meet" online twice a week in the late afternoon, between
3:00 and 6:00.  AVTEC courses may run anywhere from 2-12 weeks in length.
     •   CTE 10200 meets face-to-face for day-long session on the AVTEC campus for the
first two weeks, and thereafter does not require meetings.  Housing can be
          arranged through AVTEC.
     •   The GURs from APU each have a face-to-face course orientation that occurs
on the APU campus at the start of the semester.  Online course meetings occur
once a week in the evening hours, between 5:30 and 8:30.  APU courses
may run anywhere from 7-15 weeks in length.

What does it cost to take courses in the CTE degree?

     •   Tuition for any courses in the CTE degree is set at the same rate as other
