RANA students are able to take advantage of a world-class source of information - the Consortium Library housed at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
The Consortium Library serves all APU students through a partnership forged between APU and UAA. From anywhere in Alaska, you can use the library's online services to find information. For instance:
• You can search for books and journals.
• You can find subject-specific databases, often with online access to full-text articles.
• You can identify other collections of relevant materials to aid in your learning process.
• You have the ability to use interlibrary loan to receive articles and books from across the state or around the world.
• You can find the Anchorage Daily News, New York Times, and many other newspapers - to read articles from current or past issues.
It's important to realize the advantage that this access provides. Although the Internet places huge quantities of information at your fingertips, the accuracy of online information can sometimes be suspect. Dedicated databases accessible through institutions such as the Consortium Library contain relevant, reviewed information that has been evaluated by content experts.
1. General Access
Anyone can go to the Consortium Libary website and search through its general holdings. If you're in the Anchorage area, you can also visit the library in person:

2. Access to Dedicated Databases and Other Proprietary Materials
When you are off-campus, to gain access to the libary's dedicated databases or other materials that are available only to UAA and APU members, you need to "authenticate" your access. This requires you to login.

3. Requesting interlibary loan materials or renewing books
For other access, like requesting interlibrary loan materials or renewing books, you'll be using the library card you received either by mail or while you were at the RANA Residency. You will need to have that card handy as process your requests.
