APU and the RANA Program have received major grants from the United States Department of Education and its Office of Postsecondary Education.
Education Innovations: Comprehensive School Instruction for Paraprofessionals and Teachers - 3-year project beginning if Fall 2007 The project brings together school districts and APU to focus on developing courses and other professional development opportunities for educators who want to know more about comprehensive school reform and standards-based education.
Sharing the Vision: Reinventing Teacher Education - 2004-2007 The project had two primary goals: to raise the knowledge, skills, and professional compentence of paraprofessionals working in rural schools; and to provide curriculum for paraprofessionals focused on quality school models.
RANA Program Recruitment and Retention Project - 2005-2007 With this project, APU focused on the goals of recruitment and retention for RANA, to better serve rural Alaskans through quality online education.
